The care system helps older and disabled people with day-to-day tasks like washing, dressing, eating and medication. If you would like to take on a caring role, one that is challenging yet very rewarding, then our courses will help to prepare you.
Good customer service and effective communication skills are essential to working in this area as you will be expected to work with a wide range of people including service users, families, carers, other health professionals and colleagues.
On these courses you will:
- develop an awareness of customer service in health and social care
- understand the needs of customers who access health and social care services
- learn about different types of communication
- learn about the importance of body language in communication and the importance of listening skills
- learn effective questioning techniques
Teachers are experts in their subject, they have many years’ experience of teaching and will make learning this subject fun and relevant.
We offer a range of courses from Entry Level to Level 3 which will support you into further learning or employment.
We can signpost you to courses that offer practical care skills in people manual handling and an awareness of the safe handling of medicines and infection control. There may be options to take additional work-ready qualifications including first aid and food safety alongside your main course ask your teacher for more information.
These courses will help you to think creatively, solve problems and provide you with transferable skills useful for everyday life and for any job. Health and Social Care related jobs may include care worker, art therapist, care manager, teaching and learning support worker, nurse, palliative care assistant, family support worker, health care assistant, occupational therapist, health care worker and much more.
