This course is designed to help adults begin developing the skills, confidence, and understanding needed to prepare for work or volunteering. It is ideal for students who want to build the foundations needed to move closer to work, training, or further learning.
The course focuses on personal development, positive attitudes to work, basic workplace skills, and confidence through practical, supportive learning activities.
There are a variety of pathways to choose from which include:
- Personal Development Skills
- English Skills
- Maths Skills
- Digital Skills
- Arts and Crafts Skills
- Food and Drink Skills
- You must be aged 19 or over
- No previous experience or qualifications required
- A willingness to take part in practical activities and try new ideas
- Regular attendance and participation in class
- Build confidence and self esteem
- Develop basic employability and workplace skills
- Improve communication and teamwork skills
- Learn about work routines, expectations, and responsibilities
- Gain a nationally recognised qualification
- Prepare for further employability courses, volunteering, or training
You will learn in a supportive, adult friendly environment through:
- Teacher led sessions and group discussion
- Practical activities and role play
- Simple written, visual, and hands on tasks
- Real life workplace examples and scenarios
Learning is adapted to individual needs and abilities.
There are no exams.
Assessment is through a portfolio of evidence.
Evidence may include:
- Practical activities
- Teacher observations
- Question and answer tasks
- Worksheets or simple written work
Your teacher will give regular feedback and support throughout the course
