• The Level 1 Essential Digital Skills qualification is designed for adults who want to develop the digital skills needed for work, learning and everyday life.
• Suitable for students progressing from Entry 3 or those confident with basic digital tasks who want to build more advanced digital capabilities.

The qualification covers the same five national digital skills areas as Entry 3, but at a more advanced, work focused level:

• Using Devices & Handling Information
• Creating & Editing
• Communicating
• Transacting
• Being Safe & Responsible Online

• You must be aged 19 or over.
• Recommended: completion of Essential Digital Skills Entry 3 or equivalent experience.
  Students at Level 1 should already be familiar with using email, the internet and basic software.
• An initial assessment will determine your suitability for Level 1.

• Builds digital skills required for most modern jobs and vocational courses.
• Helps students communicate effectively online and manage digital information safely.
• Equips adults with confidence to complete online applications, forms and transactions.
• Recognised nationally and valued by employers and training providers.
• Designed specifically for adults who need digital capability for work or further learning

• Through practical activities including creating documents, emailing, online research, secure transactions and file management.
• Hands on use of laptops, smartphones and cloud based tools.
• Teacher led demonstrations followed by guided tasks.
• Real life scenarios such as online job applications, digital communication and troubleshooting.

• Assessment is via online assessment, externally set and internally marked.
• Includes practical, task based digital activities.
• Evidence must demonstrate competence across all five digital skills areas.
