• The Level 3 Certificate in British Sign Language is an advanced, nationally recognised qualification for students who have already achieved Level 2 and wish to progress to higher level BSL competency.
• Equivalent in difficulty to AS/A Level language study, it develops fluent, confident communication skills for work, social and community interactions.
• Expands knowledge of Deaf culture, Deaf history and the structure and grammar of BSL.

• You must be aged 19 or over.
• Level 2 Certificate in British Sign Language (or equivalent) is required before enrolment.
• Students must have sufficient visual, manual and expressive ability to participate at an advanced level.
• Regular practice between lessons is essential for success.

• Builds the level of fluency required for roles that involve regular communication with Deaf people (e.g., support workers, educational settings, customer facing roles).
• Deepens understanding of Deaf culture, identity and linguistic structure.
• Acts as a stepping stone toward higher level BSL, interpreter training or Deaf studies pathways.
• Helps students use BSL with greater independence across social and workplace contexts.

• Through a combination of teacher led sessions, practical tasks and guided independent study.
• Structured practice in both receptive and productive skills, as recommended by Signature.
• Interactive conversation tasks, formal presentations, and comprehension of BSL videos.
• Opportunities to explore Deaf community events, culture and real life signing.

The Level 3 Certificate includes three formal assessments:

• Formal Presentation
• Informal Conversation
• Receptive Skills Test

Signature Level 3 Certificate in British Sign Language (RQF)
