• Designed for anyone who wants to communicate with Deaf people using simple, everyday BSL vocabulary, phrases and sentences.

• You must be aged 19 or over.
• An initial assessment will ensure you join the right level.
• Suitable for complete beginners with no prior BSL experience needed.
• Learners must have sufficient vision, manual dexterity and facial/body movement to produce and receive BSL.
• Regular attendance and independent practice recommended.

• Develops practical skills for communicating with Deaf people in daily life, community settings and workplaces.
• Builds confidence in using a visually rich and expressive language.
• Provides a stepping stone to higher level BSL qualifications (Level 2, Level 3 and beyond).
