Anthony Leddington – My Learning Story
In 2023, I joined Adult Education Wolverhampton (AEW), taking Digital Skills and English before starting my favourite course, cookery. I love learning new skills and want a paid job, so I joined the Supported Internship Programme.
Student Services helped me enrol, and Leanne, the Careers Advisor, talked with me about my future, which made me realise that I could work. Having Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) in class has made a big difference, helping me when I struggle. Whilst at AEW I have increased in confidence, improved my reading and writing, and I have made new friends.I have dyspraxia and dyslexia, which made school tough. I was bullied, struggled with coordination, and thought words jumping on a page was normal. Being diagnosed earlier might have helped, but now, thanks to the support and encouragement from the staff and students at AEW I feel like I am succeeding for the first time. My LSA, Siobhan, pushes me to do my best, and my teachers make me feel safe and welcome.
I dream of working in a café, restaurant, or school kitchen, and maybe taking another catering course. I highly recommend AEW, its teachers are knowledgeable and supportive, and the LSAs are patient and kind. On my work placement I'm learning new skills, growing in confidence, and becoming more independent every day.

Feedback Fox Training and Anthony's Job coach
Fox Training – Anthony has worked so hard in his placement to adapt how he works to follow their requirements. Anthony has worked extremely hard to learn the different varieties of hot drinks they provide.
Job coach – Anthony has made such excellent progress since his first day. Anthony is very good at watching his supervisors and learning from them to carry out a range of tasks. It has helped that Anthony has made use of his initiative when working, which has been demonstrated throughout his time in the setting. Anthony can make all hot drinks when customers come in, and the staff are giving him that responsibility. We have set a few targets to encourage Anthony to expand his role and help to prepare him for future employment.
