Level 2 Art Students WAG Exhibition
A group of Level 2 Art students from Adult Education Wolverhampton are preparing to exhibit their work at Wolverhampton Art Gallery, after successfully securing a space in the gallery's educational section.
What began as an early discussion in class about exhibiting artwork in the local community has quickly developed into a real opportunity, with the project being driven by the learners themselves.
Following a series of emails and a visit to Wolverhampton Art Gallery on, the group viewed the exhibition space and discussed how the display will be curated. The gallery has proposed a launch date of 30/31 March, with the exhibition running until 5 May (dates to be confirmed).
The exhibition will showcase artwork created on the course and will feature approximately 2–3 pieces per student, with a focus on 2D work mounted on paper or light card. Students also had the opportunity to learn more about the curating process, including how galleries arrange work by size, scale and colour to create impact.

Speaking about the experience, the group shared how working together has helped make the exhibition possible:
"Everyone was keen to collaborate on an exhibition… it gives us a chance to look at things we need to do as artists such as costing up our work and networking."

Students said the process has been encouraging and has helped them grow in confidence:
"Yes, I feel more confident putting my work into the public now than when I start, the feedback from classmates and reflection has helped."
When asked how it feels knowing their work will be displayed in a major gallery, the response was clear:
"Amazing, very exciting, proud. We've come very far through our journeys."

The group have progressed together from Level 1 to Level 2 and have continued supporting each other throughout the course, including sharing ideas and feedback through a WhatsApp group.
Wolverhampton Art Gallery have also expressed interest in continuing this partnership with future classes, helping create further opportunities for learners and showcasing how Adult Education supports progression, creativity and confidence.
