Student First Impressions of 2025-26

First impressions aren’t everything, but they’re powerful. It shapes how students see us; it keeps students on track and keeps them coming back. They are significant in nearly every area of life including at Adult Education Wolverhampton. It helps us shape what we do and how we do it. Thank you to all our students who completed an enrolment and induction survey, we value the responses.

This is some of the feedback we received:
99% students said they were clear about how their course would help them to progress.
95% of students said they felt safe learning at AEW. The other 5% felt safe most of the time. Issues relating to light around the site at night can now be dealt with.
87% of students knew that they could borrow a laptop and there was help to pay for travel, childcare and resources. Based on responses we were able to provide additional information for the 13% of students who did not know about the available support, helping to remove barriers to learning for all our students.

These are a few of the student comments:

‘AES is a wonderful, welcoming & inclusive learning environment with skilled, experienced & caring tutors. Here you can achieve your dreams.’

‘I enjoy my courses, and I am making new friends. My teachers and the LSAs are lovely. I feel safe here.’

‘The course is very important for my mental health.’

‘The teachers are very good. I am enjoying the work as it challenges me.’

‘I am happy with this opportunity to study at AEW.’

‘I would like to say thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity.’

‘I feel very privileged that this is available in my area.’

The overwhelming response was positive. Negative comments focused on the use of IT and logging into 365 accounts. As a result, additional support has been provided in the classroom, and regular volunteer drop-in sessions are available to support students with IT issues.
