New BSL Café Launches at AEW Following Student Feedback

A new BSL (British Sign Language) Café launched on Tuesday 7th October in the Student Gateway, offering students the perfect opportunity to practice and develop their British Sign Language (BSL) skills in a relaxed and friendly environment.

The café, created in response to feedback from previous BSL students, will run twice a week, every Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime from 12pm to 1pm for current students. Refreshments are included, making it an inviting and social space for learning and connection.
Each session is supported by AEW Volunteer BSL Classroom Support Assistants, who are on hand to offer guidance, answer questions, and encourage conversation.

The first session was a great success, welcoming students from all levels of BSL courses at AEW. The atmosphere was lively and inclusive, with participants enthusiastically practicing their signing skills, sharing experiences, and making new friends.
The BSL Café is already proving to be a valuable addition to the AEW community, helping students build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and connect with others who share a passion for BSL.
