Mayor visits Adult Education to celebrate the success of Multiply course
The Mayor of the West Midlands Andy Street visited Adult Education Wolverhampton on 27 March to celebrate the success of its’ Multiply project.
Adult Education’s Multiply courses are designed to give people the maths knowledge, skills and confidence they need to help improve their financial wellbeing
They are being delivered thanks to funding from the West Midlands Combined Authority, via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Councillor Chris Burden, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: "We were delighted to welcome Andy Street to Adult Education Wolverhampton, and to show him how it has successfully delivered the Multiply programme."
“Many people are currently experiencing financial difficulties, and it is important that they have the essential skills they need to help them manage those challenges as best they can."
"By building the programme around cost-of-living themes that people would resonate with, such as debt and health, shop smarter and fuel poverty, Adult Education Wolverhampton has been able to engage with residents and help them to better manage their finances. As a result, it has surpassed all the targets it was set for the delivery of the programme."
"It has also been able to work with a number of local partners to achieve this, including our own cost of living team and staff at our Family Hubs, and each were able to spend time with the Mayor during his visit."
"We are now moving into the third and final year of the Multiply programme, and look forward to helping many more residents to improve their numeracy skills over the next 12 months."
Adult Education Wolverhampton offers hundreds of courses, some designed to help people into work, change careers or become self-employed, and others which offer opportunities for adults to learn a new skill, improve their mental health and general well-being, improve their confidence on-line, become a volunteer, or become more active in their local community.
