Met Office Yellow Thunderstorm Warning

Heavy, thundery showers developing on Saturday 7th June.

"An unsettled start to the meteorological summer and this pattern is set to continue over the weekend and into next week as the weather moves in from off the Atlantic Ocean. Through the remainder of today there will be some sunshine for most but a scattering of showers and it will tend to be a cool and breezy afternoon for early June with maximum temperatures in the mid to high teens Celsius in moderate to locally fresh westerly winds. Showers dying out during the evening but some persistent rain moving eastwards across the region overnight, the heaviest of this rain across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. This will lead into a rather cloudy start for Saturday. It will brighten up during the morning with some sunshine developing but with this sunshine there will be some showers developing and these showers will become heavy and thundery with the risk of hail and strong and gusty winds. The showers will be hit and miss and will tend to be more frequent across the south of the region i.e. Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire and there could be some disruption to transport, local flooding and even utilities. Showers and storms tending to peak late morning and early afternoon with a gradual reduction in showers later in the afternoon and into the evening. Feeling cool, particularly in the showers/storms with highs typically in the mid to locally high teens Celsius. Sunday will be largely dry for most of the region with sunny periods, just the odd shower across the north and west. A little warmer with maximum temperatures in the high teens Celsius.”  - Met Office Advisor (06 Jun)
