Emergency Alert Test - 3pm This Sunday

At 3pm on Sunday 7 September, a loud emergency alert will be sent to most 4G/5G phones and tablets in the UK. It’s a test by the Government - no action is needed.

What to expect:
- Loud siren, vibration, and/or message (even on silent)
- Lasts about 10 seconds
- Confirms it’s only a test

You won’t get it if your device is:
On 2G/3G only, Wi-Fi only, off, in airplane mode, or running old software

If driving, don’t pick up your phone - the alert will stop on its own.

Important for those affected by domestic abuse:
The alert will sound even on silent and may reveal hidden devices. To opt out:
iPhone: Settings > Notifications > turn off Severe & Extreme Alerts
Android: Settings > search “Emergency Alerts” > turn off alerts
