Celebrating Success at Adult Education Wolverhampton
Adult Education Wolverhampton (AEW) recently held its second annual Celebration of Learning, recognising the incredible achievements and dedication of adult students across the city.
A new 100% Attendance Award was introduced this year, celebrating seven learners whose commitment to every lesson truly paid off.
Six AEW students were also nominated for the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) Awards, with Tim Jackson winning the prestigious Skills for Life Award for his inspiring journey learning British Sign Language (BSL) after experiencing hearing loss.
“Learning BSL has been truly life-changing,” Tim shared. “It’s about confidence, community, and adapting with optimism.”
The main highlight of the evening was the presentation of the AEW Awards, where teachers nominated over 90 learners for three categories: Outstanding Improvement, Learning for Personal Progression, and Above and Beyond. Fourteen learners were shortlisted, and the winners were announced as:
- Outstanding Improvement: Latoyah Dundas
- Personal Progression: Sandesh Kaur
- Above and Beyond: Ravi Goyal
- The evening concluded with the Star Award, chosen by Deputy Head of Service Anna Place from all nominations. This year’s overall winner was Tim Jackson, whose inspiring story touched everyone in attendance.
Certificates were presented by Alison Hinds, Executive Director of Families, who congratulated all the learners on their achievements.
AEW would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part, supported, and helped organise the event, a true celebration of learning, community, and success.
