Our Student Charter explains what you can expect from Adult Education Wolverhampton and what we expect from you in return.

  9. An induction to our service and your course
  10. Your individual learning plan
  11. High quality teaching delivered by qualified and experienced staff
  12. High quality learning resources and facilities
  13. Regular reviews of your progress

our commitment to us


As a student, we ask you to:

  1. Help us make your place of learning safe by complying with Health & Safety and safeguarding requirements and reporting any concerns to a member of staff
  2. Treat others with respect and consideration by:
    • being ready to learn
    • not being under the influence of alcohol or drugs
    • turning your mobile phone onto silent during lesson time
    • listening to others during discussion and not talking over other people when they are expressing their point of view or asking questions
    • not raising your voice
    • not being disruptive or preventing other students from working
  3. Let us know if you have any disability, condition or mental health issue that may affect your learning so that we can offer support
  4. Arrive on time for each class
  5. Maintain a minimum of 80% attendance and let your tutor know if you cannot attend sessions
  6. Negotiate your learning plan and review your learning and progress with your tutor
  7. Take note of feedback, complete all work to the best of your ability and meet completion dates.
  8. Talk to your tutor if you have any problems with the course, homework activities or target dates
  9. Give us feedback on the course and our services
  10. Tell us if there are any important changes to your personal details, e.g. if you move house, change your name, or change your benefit status
  11. Not accept or participate in any form of discrimination, bullying, harassment, hate crime or extremism, and report if it happens
  12. Respect the property of others, including that of Adult Education Wolverhampton
  13. Work with us to value the environment and community


Breaches in the charter

  • if you feel that we have not met our commitment to you, you should use the Compliments, Concerns and Complaints procedure
  • by signing our learning agreement you are agreeing to follow this charter
  • if you have not met your responsibilities we will follow our Student Conduct policy. A full copy of this policy is available from Customer Services and Student Services
