Are you Interested in caring for or working with children, hospitality and catering, health and social care or something creative, then why not join one of our new year courses. These courses are designed for beginners and could be the start of something new to inspire you.

Courses on offer

An Introduction to Caring for a Child

This course provides an introduction to the key aspects of caring for a child.

You will learn about the basic skills needed to care for a baby or young child:

  • Setting a routine
  • Healthy lifestyles
  • Importance of play and learning

Entry Level Award in Creative Crafts

Learn new skills and develop your creative passion. There are many subjects to choose from including Painting & Drawing, Jewellery Making, Sewing & Textiles, Fashion & Garment Making, Floristry and Sugar Craft & Cake Decorating and Pottery.

On these courses you will:

  • Get a taste of a new skill
  • Learn to use craft and design materials
  • Create an art or craft item whilst working safely
  • Gain a beginners qualification accredited by NCFE
  • Learn about career options including self-employment

Get Ready to Work with Children

The course is designed for people who are interested in exploring a career working with children and would like to find out what roles are available, what is involved and how to find appropriate training.

You will learn about:

  • Basic child development
  • Communicating with children
  • Career options in Childcare

Skills for Business and Administration Introduction

If you are interested in finding out more about working in an office this introductory course could be for you.

You will learn about:

  • The role of an administrator
  • Professional behaviours for the office
  • Using ICT in the work environment

Skills for Health and Social Care Introduction

Skills for Health and Social Care is an Entry Level course which is an introduction to the skills required for employment in the care sector. 

You will find out about:

  • Safeguarding adults
  • Healthy eating and drinking for adults
  • Person centred care tasks
  • Developing communication skills

Skills for Hospitality and Catering Introduction

Skills for hospitality and catering is an introductory customer service course. The course is an introduction to the skills you will need to work in shops, cafes and restaurants. 

You will find out about:

  • Customer service roles in the hospitality industry
  • Handling money in Sales roles
  • Effective skills for working in a team
