Steven Spencer – Steps to an office career

Adult Education is the place to go whatever level of education you are at ….this place has turned my life around. My health, wellbeing and job prospects are back on track.

I left school in the early 1970’s with no qualifications and went straight in to working in heavy duty factory based engineering. In January 2015 I lost my job and in the April of that year I suffered a life threatening heart attack which left me unable to work. Whilst in recovery I decide that I wanted my life back and needed to pull myself together in order to make the necessary changes to start again.

I looked for information about getting back into education and started learning IT. The organisation I joined told me about Adult Education Wolverhampton where I am now studying on the Office Skills programme. I am excited about coming back to education and the new possibilities that this brings, learning is changing my life.

In the near future I plan to get all the necessary qualifications to work in Administration or Customer Services. I am currently working as a volunteer helping students with IT and I have been advised to pursue the qualifications to become an IT trainer.

Adult Education is the place to go whatever level of education you are at ….this place has turned my life around. My health, wellbeing and job prospects are back on track.
