Michael Ray Wilson – Steps to employment

Anyone thinking about starting afresh should definitely go for it, we all have a chance to change and I’m taking my chance now!

I finished my secondary education in the early 1980’s with no qualifications, as a kid I had no interest in learning I just wanted to leave school and start work and in the early 80’s that was an option. I’ve have many jobs over the years but nothing I can say I did with much passion, they paid the bills and that’s pretty much it.

On my travels I passed by Adult Education on many occasions and one day I decided to venture in.  I picked up a course directory, liked the surroundings, the staff seemed nice and I had nothing to lose so I signed myself up for the Steps to Employment course which I started in September 2016. I’ve completed stage one of the programme, I’m now in the process of studying for my Maths and English qualifications and I’m loving learning it’s so different this time round.

Class is great I am studying alongside others from similar backgrounds and learning is actually fun.  We all want to be here, we are learning and helping each other and it’s a great community spirit. For me this is definitely my opportunity for a second chance.

This is just the start for me, I plan to get the qualifications required to go on to study TV and Media at university. I have a dream and I’m on the right track to make it a reality. Anyone thinking about starting afresh should definitely go for it, we all have a chance to change and I’m taking my chance now!
