Graham Perks – English Entry Level 2

Graham Perks – English Entry Level 2

This has been a life changing experience for me, I can read and write a little now and my confidence has soared.

My experience of school was not a good one; I was always pushed to the back of the class because I wasn’t clever enough and subsequently left school with no qualifications not even reading and writing.

I worked in care and was always asked by the residents to read or write something for them but was unable to so I would always make up some excuse. This was really embarrassing for me and shattered my confidence.

One day I decided that I had to do something about this and ventured into Adult Education. I really wanted to better myself and give myself a better chance. I completed the initial assessment and since September I have been studying on the Entry 2 level English course.

This has been a life changing experience for me, I can read and write a little now and my confidence has soared. I can read with my grandchildren and don’t have to say I can’t anymore.

I’ll be taking my first exam soon and despite being a little nervous I am excited about what the future holds. I plan to continue learning more and more. Reading and writing has opened up a new world for me.

The staff here at Adult Education are great, they have helped me to learn and to believe that I am capable of achieving whatever I set myself to do. There is no more sitting at the back of the class for me!

Would I recommend the college? Yes I would…If I can do it, anyone can!
