"Working with other students has given me a lot more confidence and I can now see a task to the end and complete it."

“I have been suffering with depression since my Mom passed away from breast cancer. Joining the Life Skills cookery course at Adult Education Wolverhampton has helped me a lot. It will help me to reconnect to my mom because of the love of cooking she gave to me from the age of 6 years.

I really like being on the cookery course, it has helped me to learn how to make a balanced meal so I can get a better energy release. From a Team GB Special Olympic Ski Alpine athlete’s point of view, this will help to better my performance in a race.

The benefit of the course is to gain more independence. I am able to shop for the items on the recipe and can make meals from scratch so I end up with a good healthy meal. The course has helped me with my Maths because I can now measure the right ingredients. It also helps me deal with money when I go shopping. Working with other students has given me a lot more confidence and I can now see a task to the end and complete it.”
