Derrick Brown

Derrick Brown

"I’ve got my life back, made new friends and am excited about what tomorrow holds."

Derrick had worked as a builder for over 27 years and due to massive wear and tear on his back he was left disabled and unable to work. Derrick became house bound, suffered with depression and had lost all confidence in himself.

He heard about courses offered at Adult Education Wolverhampton to support people with mental health issues and after much deliberation joined the ‘Like Minds’ Art and Crafts class.

“I joined the class to help with my health and wellbeing, life is great again I am no longer depressed. I’ve got my life back, made new friends and am excited about what tomorrow holds. The Like Minds class has opened new doors and new possibilities. Learning is something I hadn’t done for years but it’s now a big part of my life and has given me a positive outlook on life.”
