"The college has given me the opportunity to believe in myself and the confidence to grow."

“I am a stay at home mum of four beautiful children from 6 to 15. My husband Craig is a lorry driver and has been the sole bread winner for most of our marriage. In September 2015 I enquired about starting a bookkeeping course at Adult Education. We are a low income family and I really wanted to help my husband with his accounts and this was the perfect starting point.

Going back to college for me was really scary, after being told for years that I wasn’t good enough this was a massive step to take. My family were my main focus, and I wanted to do this for them. Things have changed, my tutor is amazing she has time for me and encourages me. It has made me want to learn not just for my family, now it’s for me too. My confidence has grown and I am achieving.

This is just the beginning for me. The college has given me the opportunity to believe in myself and the confidence to grow. My aim now is to continue with my studies and qualifications and eventually get a job in accounting.“
