European Day of Languages

On 26th September a range of events across Europe will celebrate the 230 languages in use throughout the continent as part of the 11th European Day of Languages festivities. Here in Wolverhampton, with 60 different languages spoken across the city, the Adult Education Service will be marking the day with free classes in different languages and information sessions throughout the week.

More people than ever are keen to learn English as a second language too and the demand for teachers is growing. Budding English language teachers should come along to find out how to qualify and open up the doors to an exciting career. Ian Walker, 35, said: "Learning to teach English as a foreign language has turned my life around. I finished the course in April and have just started my new job teaching people from all over the world here in Wolverhampton." Others who completed the part time course have jetted off to work in Switzerland, Spain and as far away as China. To find out more about teaching English as a foreign language or learning a new language yourself come to the centre on Wed 26th and celebrate the Day of Languages with us.
