This course is designed for both graduates and non-graduates who are currently teaching or training in the post compulsory sector. The course is part-time, delivered over 2 years and students would normally attend taught sessions once per week. It is delivered in partnership and accredited by the University of Wolverhampton.

The aim of the course is to develop professional skills as a teacher or trainer in post compulsory education. You will be applying theory to practice over a range of key teaching and learning elements including planning for learning, assessment and reflecting on your practice. Theories of adult learning will be explored and you will develop your own portfolio of evidence charting your learning journey. This will include assignments, reports and reflective journals which explore key incidents and issues surrounding your practice and development. The course will include an e-learning unit in which you will gain knowledge of new pedagogic practices and design learning resources using new technology. Your teaching practice will be observed at intervals throughout the course by your tutors and workplace mentor and you will also undertake your own observations of your peers. The course is validated and accredited by the University of Wolverhampton. Successful completion of this course provides professional accreditation to carry out a full teaching role in the sector.
