Life Skills (Learning Disabilities)

Life Skills (Learning Disabilities)

“Life Skills” classes are ideal if you are an adult with a learning disability.

Our life skills courses will give you the opportunity to develop your communication and practical skills. Creative activities may include cooking, pottery, arts & crafts, textiles and floristry.

  • find out how to make choices
  • learn to work in a team
  • improve your levels of concentration
  • learn problem solving skills

If you enrol onto a ‘Move On’ progression course there may be an opportunity to work towards pre-employability type activities including volunteering, work experience and setting up a mini enterprise. ‘Keep Learning’ courses will concentrate on independent living and for others a ‘Get Learning’ course will focus on practical activities.

Participation on our courses can increase your self-confidence and empower you to make changes that benefit your life. Using English and maths well is an important part of independent living and these subjects will be embedded into your learning.

You do not need any qualifications but we would like you to have the willingness to learn and to progress. You may need to complete a skills check and meet with a member of the team who will be able to place you on a course that’s right for you.
