The Workers Educational Association (The “WEA”) is a national educational charity that has been working in the fi eld of adult education for over a century. The Wolverhampton Branch of the WEA runs quite a broad programme of courses, many of which are held in classrooms provided by the Adult Education Service at Old Hall Street. The classes begin during week commencing 22nd September and enrolment for the WEA classes always takes place at the beginning of the fi rst session or at the end of the session if you want to come along to see what it’s like before committing yourself!
Although almost all our courses charge a fee, we do have a full-remission policy for any learner who is in receipt of a means-tested benefi t or allowance, so the WEA does feel it has a welcoming ‘open-door’ approach to dealing with anyone who would like to come along - whatever your background or experience, or fi nancial circumstances. As well as classes the Branch provides day schools, fi eld trips, and theatre-going trips, so it is worth getting involved with the WEA. Most people simply attend our ten-week courses for two hours a week covering subjects like History, Literature, Philosophy, Art Appreciation, Black Country Studies, American Studies and an introduction to Counselling Skills.
To find out more about WEA courses in Wolverhampton, telephone us and ask for a copy of our prospectus - due out at the beginning of August.
